Once again, new sweat shirts and pants along with underwear and socks were among the donations presented at Diocesan Convention. Over 600 items were collected in response to the Diocesan Episcopal Church Women's appeal for these items. Recently the donations of new clothing were given to the diocesan programs for distribution. Two of the organizations that benefited were St. Stephen's Wilkes Barre's "Reach" program and New Bethany Ministries in Bethlehem.
Cathie Shollenberger, New Bethany's Transitional Housing Project Director, after receiving a share the contribution of clothing, wrote: "Thank you so much for keeping New Bethany Ministries in your heart and thank you for sharing year after year."
Since 1997 the ECW has organized a project that unified the Diocese of Bethlehem in a diocesan-wide effort of outreach. This year the exact total of garments is unknown because not all collection forms were returned at Convention. However, the response was wonderful, and the organizations who received the garments were most grateful. Thanks be to God and thank you to all of the parishes for your support.
