Thursday evenings at Mediator Allentown

The Church of the Mediator invites you and members of your congregations to join us each Thursday evening during Lent for a light dinner and discussion based around the award winning movie "For the Bible Tells me so" (about Christian families struggling with the issues of homosexuality.) Please call the church office at 610-434-0155 so we can make sure we have enough food!

Thursday Evenings
6:30 PM till 8:30 PM
February 26 thru April 2

This Lent we will be holding a Lenten Series open to all members of the Mediator community and the community around us. As a congregation we are living and growing our Mission of being a "welcoming community." In the series will explore, discuss, and study our Faith's scripture, reason and tradition in context with the award winning film "So The Bible Tells Me so." The film documents the real life struggles of families as they deal with the subject of homosexuality in their lives, faith and churches. The series will begin on Feb 26 with a light dinner and viewing of the movie. In the following sessions we will discuss: •What does the Bible really say about homosexuality? •Where do we currently stand in the Episcopal Church and Anglican Communion on the issues of sexuality? •What social causes and pastoral needs can the Church affect?

Each week will involve moderated discussion, individual study, reflection and an opportunity to share, learn and grow. Come for the movie viewing, come for one session or come for all if you can.

A light supper of soup, salad and bread will be served each week. The first week the Adult Education Commission will host the meal so please sign up on the sign up sheets in the office vestibule or call the church office to be added to the list (we would like to have a headcount). After the first week we will ask those attending the Series to rotate in bringing cans of soup, salad greens or bread as we gather around the table together.
