How to help people displaced by an Allentown gas explosion

Bishop's School 2007

The Spring semester of Bishop's School will be held at St. Peter's, Hazleton from 10 am - 3 pm on February 3, 10, 17 and 24; March 10, 17, 24; April 14 and 21; May 5. The morning class will be Planning and Leading Worship taught by Father Patrick Malloy, rector, Grace Church, Allentown. The afternoon class on Pastoral Care will be taught by Canon Ginny Rex Day, rector, Trinity Church, Mt. Pocono.

Because the focus of Bishop's School is to prepare vocational deacons and locally licensed priests, the curriculum is designed to meet the canonical requirements for those ministries. However, anyone is welcome to register and attend. The expectation for those in the ordination process is that there will be no more than one absence in order to be credited for any given course.

There is a fee of $75 for each course, payable with registration. To register please email Linda Shifter at lshifter@diobeth.org or mail to Dicoesan House, 333 Wyandotte St., Bethlehem, PA 18015, the following information: Name, address, phone number and email address. We need to be able to reach you in case of inclement weatehr or other schedule changes. Checks should be written to: The Dioceses of Bethlehem, marked for Bishop's School. If you have questions, please contact Canon Jane Teter, jteter@diobeth.org or call 800-358-5655, ext 228.

Canon Day asks that those registering for her class read The Wounded Healer by Henri Nouwen before the first class. Another book that will be used during the class is John Patton's Pastoral Care: An Essential Guide (Abingdon Press, 2005). Both books are available from Amazon.com
